KER aims to inform local people about developments in their neighbourhood and to enable them to have their voice heard in the planning process.  Residents of the village come from many specilaist occupations and we encourage them to share their knowledge to help in this process.

KER keeps a careful eye on all proposed developments in the Parish.  At the moment we are looking at the implications of Stroud District Council's Core Strategy which could see up to 1500 new homes built in and around Eastington.  See our latest news pages for details.

Throughout 2007 and the first half of 2008, KER opposed proposals to build a 27 acre commercial sport and leisure complex at Eastington Park.  The development was near listed buildings, in a conservation area and on rural land.  In August 2008 a Government Inspector fully backed KER's view of the proposal.  The plans would, he said “significantly damage the essential quality of a distinctive feature of the conservation area and the special interest of the listed house in its setting”.

Keep Eastington Rural was established over fifteen years ago (*) to protect the Parish from unwanted development.  In that time it has fought off several housing schemes that would have changed the character of this historic area.
